How are our Labradoodles special?Firstly, we are a small family breeder. Not a large commercial one. Our bitch, Shakira, has only one litter a year (well, it's tiring for her!), usually in the Winter months. From day 1 the pups are in a family environment, loved and cuddled by our two teenage daughters. They are frequently brought into the lounge room to be nursed and watch TV! So our pups are very used to humans and children. This means they are more socialised with humans and can interact well and have friendly relationships with us. We follow the NSW Canine Council's guidelines for breeders. This means, for instance, that we only breed from Shakira once a year, and we don't release the pups until they are 8 weeks old - they need their mum until then. Our pups are, of course, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped when they go to their new homes. They come with a health guarantee against inherited diseases for one year. We breed only F1 Labradoodles (that just means a first generation cross between a Labrador and a Poodle). This means our pups have F1 "Hybrid Vigour" - a well-known biological fact - that first generation crosses are normally healthier than either parent. Our Labradoodles tend to have a white, cream or light brown coat. We are very choosy about who buys our pups. All our pups go to homes that will give them every chance for a happy and healthy life as an integral part of a loving family. We prefer families with children, or families with another dog. They also need space to rush around in, or at least lots of walks. We give you printed instructions on how to look after your puppy, and we send him or her home with a towel which has been rubbed round Mum and its siblings so it has a comforting smell for the pup in its new home. We keep in touch with our puppy owners with an annual Labradoodle beach romp, and we're always happy to give advice on the phone. Will a Labradoodle be right for You? |
